Veneers
What’s Involved With Getting Veneers?
When you get veneers, you must remember that it’s important for all your teeth to match when you smile. Most people find that they need about eight veneers on the teeth in the top half of their mouth. There are some people who’ll need 12, and others who’ll need four there though.
Regardless of whether you need 4, 8, or 12 veneers the process is rather painless because you’ll receive a local anesthetic that will numb your mouth while we clean and polish your teeth in preparation for your new veneers. This won’t do away with all your discomfort, especially when the anesthesia starts wearing off. Overall you won’t experience any pain or have your teeth ruined since we’ve been trained and have lots of experience putting veneers in our patients’ mouths.
Benefits And Drawbacks Of Veneers
Unfortunately, veneers are expensive, which is why it’s so important to get them done the first time properly. This is especially true since after you do get them, it’s impossible to have them removed no matter what. While these sound like some horrible drawbacks, they’re far outweighed by the benefits of getting veneers.
Not only will we not have to do extensive tooth shaping, which means veneers are easy to get, but once in place, they’ll look like the teeth you were born with. They won’t stain either, making them a great way to improve your overall smile. If you have many fillings, you should opt for crowns instead because veneers won’t fix any major challenges (things bigger than a small gap) you have with your teeth.
How Long Veneers Will Last
Unfortunately, veneers don’t last forever. This is because we must shave your teeth slightly before placing them. Once there, they do last for 7 – 20 years since they’re made of strong porcelain unless you experience a bonding issue. They won’t break without you falling or biting a fork or having some major accident. If they do come off of your teeth, you won’t have any permanent damage to your teeth as long as your veneers were put in your mouth properly the first time.
With all these great benefits far outweighing any drawbacks you may see to getting veneers, it’s time to schedule an appointment to talk to us about this cosmetic dentistry option. To do so, contact Cornelius Dental Clinic at (971) 317-9323.
